President Trump keeps calling it Operation Epic Fury. But the numbers tell a very different story.

In just the last 72 hours, the United States military has faced serious setbacks in its war against Iran. The USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier has been heavily damaged. Reports say it will now return to its home base in America.

This is one of the biggest blows to the US Navy in this war.

What Happened to US Forces?

Here is a list of reported US military losses so far:
  • The Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier was damaged badly enough to be sent home.
  • Iraqi militias shot down a US refueling aircraft over Iraq.
  • The US has lost many drones in the conflict.
  • Billions of dollars worth of radar systems have been destroyed.
  • Multiple aircraft and drones worth millions have been lost.
The most alarming news? The US is running out of Tomahawk cruise missiles.

Tomahawk Missile Shortage Is Real

Reports say the US started this operation with about 4,000 Tomahawk missiles. But many were wasted.

How? Iran had already emptied many of its military buildings before the attacks. The IRGC moved its headquarters and important equipment to secret locations. So the US ended up bombing empty buildings.

Iran also used decoys — fake targets that tricked US missiles into hitting the wrong spots.

Now the US military has started using gravity bombs instead of Tomahawk missiles. Gravity bombs are old-fashioned bombs dropped from planes. They are cheaper but far less accurate. This switch tells us the missile shortage is real.

The Cost Is Staggering

In just six days, the US has already spent $11 billion on this war. And this number does not even include the cost of destroyed radar systems, aircraft, and drones.

To put this in perspective:

India's entire defense budget is about $85 to $90 billion per year.
In just six days, the US has spent 13% of India's full-year defense budget.
The US is only fighting Iran right now. No other major power has entered the war yet.
If this war continues for months, the costs will be unimaginable.

The Tomahawk Production Problem

Here is another big problem. The US can only make about 90 Tomahawk missiles per year. But they have been using missiles that were stockpiled since 1980.

That means the US is burning through decades of missile reserves in just weeks. Replacing them will take years.

Iran's Strategy Is Working

Iran's strategy seems very well planned. They are not trying to kill as many American soldiers as possible. Instead, they are targeting the US economy and military equipment.

Iran knows that the American people do not support this war. Killing more soldiers would just create anger. But draining America's money and weapons — that hurts more in the long run.

As one expert pointed out, if you look at the before-and-after images of US bases, Iran deliberately avoided hitting barracks where soldiers sleep. They targeted runways, radar systems, and equipment instead.

Can Trump Declare Victory?

The biggest question right now is this: How can President Trump declare victory?

To win, he needs the Strait of Hormuz reopened. But Iran says it will not accept a simple ceasefire. Iran wants a permanent solution.

Trump likely wants a diplomatic exit. But every time the US escalates, Iran matches it. It has become a tit-for-tat cycle that nobody seems able to stop.

The Nuclear Question

Many experts are now asking a frightening question. What happens when the US runs out of conventional weapons?

If Tomahawk missiles run out and gravity bombs are not enough, what is left? The answer nobody wants to hear: nuclear weapons.

Iran seems to have already thought about this. Their strategy suggests they believe that having nuclear weapons is the only real protection against American attacks.
